What have we been working on?

The Research and Initiatives committee continued their work on the project to gather employers’ perceptions regarding the hiring and management of students who have completed most of their pre-university studies outside of Canada (e.g. international students, new immigrants, Canadians living abroad, etc.). The participating institutions for this study are SFU, UVic, TRU and BCIT. In 2016 we presented the preliminary results at the 2nd WACE Research Symposium in Victoria in June; the CAFCE Annual Conference in Moncton in August; and at the ACE PD Event in Vancouver in November.

We are currently doing an additional layer of analysis to frame our presentation at the ACE/CACEE/CAFCE conference this May and plan on publishing our results. The ACE Research and Initiatives Committee would like to thank the ACE board for generously providing funding to cover some of the expense relating to our research project.
